California-based Gravitas Ventures is growing its sales team. The indie cinema rights distributor has added Laura Florence to its team to lead sales of on-demand and home video platforms.
Florence (pictured) has more than 10 years of experience in product and brand management, most recently as executive director of sales at Alchemy.
She joins the company to help it meet increasing sales demands and double-digit revenue growth in the VOD space (for transaction, subscription and ad-supported), said Nolan Gallagher, CEO and founder of Gravitas.
The company also recently added Rachel Koehler as aquisition manager in May and former Entertainment One director of worldwide acquisitions Dan Fisher last October. In his position, Fisher oversees all acquisitions, setting the strategy for identifying and tracking the theatrical and VOD releases.
Going forward, a big opportunity for expansion will be in the international markets, Gallagher said, with offices opening across the globe. The company already works with the major SVODs, including Hulu and Netflix, as well as more regional and niche players, and helps distribute indie films, such as the Backstreet Boys Show Me What You’re Made Of documentary and the Jeremy Lalond-directed comedy How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town.
