Kevin Hart’s comedy VOD service Laugh Out Loud hasn’t officially launched yet, but the comedian is out searching for fresh and funny voices to add to the platform.
To that end, Hart has partnered with the comedy-focused Canadian media co Just For Laughs to present a one-hour special live event, Kevin Hart’s Laugh out Loud Network Pitch Panel, which invites creators to pitch their best pilot ideas for a shot at landing a series on Hart’s platform.
Up to 10 finalists will be selected from applications and will have two minutes to pitch their idea before Hart and his team, who will then provide feedback and potentially offer up some cash.
The panel will take place July 28 during the Just For Laughs ComedyPro comedy-content search conference in Montreal, which runs parallel to the long-running Just For Laughs Festival.
Laugh Out Loud was first announced in March following a partnership between Hart and Lionsgate. The format of the service (subscription, ad-supported or transaction) has still not been announced, nor is it clear how much the service will cost. It will officially launch in Q2 2017.
Hart’s relationship with Just For Laughs date back to 2001 when he made his own comedy debut during the “New Faces” segment. He’s since made his name in a number of television and movie productions including The Real Husbands of Hollywood, Get Hard and The Secret Life of Pets.
Hart appeared at last year’s Just For Laughs festival as part of his “What Now?” tour. The show sold out Montreal’s Bell Centre, making it the festival’s biggest event in its 23-year history.
