PBS will launch a free children’s service that will span multiple platforms, including a new TV channel and a live-stream on digital platforms, the company confirmed.
The new PBS Kids dedicated channel will be provided by local PBS stations and broadcast content 24/7. Live-streamed content will available through pbskids.org and the PBS Kids video app, which is available on mobile devices and OTT platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, XBox One and Chromecast.
The live-stream comes in addition to the app’s on-demand clips and full episodes of PBS originals such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Odd Squad and Ready Jet Go (pictured).
Following its initial launch, the live stream will expand to offer integrated games desigend accompany the content watched by young viewers.
The PBS Kids web site averages 419.8 million streams per month, according to the pubcaster.
