Newswire service Business Wire is teaming up with Al Roker Entertainment on a series of new digital video projects.

Business Wire announced the project on its own news wire service (naturally) Sept. 8.

Business Wire CEO Cathy Baron Tamraz said in a statement the videos will focus largely on emerging trends in business, with a special focus on “disruptive” start-up companies.

“The new video platforms we are developing will deliver insights into what we see driving digital and social conversations,” said Tamraz, who also said Business Wire’s extensive data and analytics services will be an integral part of the videos.

Tamraz said she first met veteran broadcaster Al Roker (who serves as CEO of Al Roker Entertainment) at the 2015 SXSW interactive festival in Austin, TX in March 2015, and discussions over a joint venture persisted over the six months that followed until the partnership was finally announced.

Business Wire will use its scale and access to business news and benefit from Al Roker Entertainment’s knowledge of the video and entertainment industry to create a new video component to its services. Additional information on the service such as platforms, possible costs related and who the videos will be available to will be revealed in the next month.

Al Roker Entertainment has been embracing a number of new digital platforms as of late, broadcasting content from its Roker Labs production studio on both rival streaming platforms Periscope and Meerkat.

“(Business Wire) provides access to breaking news well suited for compelling video content for social and digital platforms,” said Roker in a statement. “This is one of ARE’s specialties.”
