When Netflix first announced in December that it would revive the 2001 cult film Wet Hot American Summer with a prequel series, fans of the original were delighted.
So it’s little surprise that people had a hard time containing their excitement when the SVOD service dropped the trailer for the series on July 2.
The trailer reveals that more than a few members of the original cast are involved in the digi reboot, including Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce and Paul Rudd.
If that wasn’t enough, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) have also joined the cast.
The original Wet Hot American Summer was a commercial and critical flop, but the satirical romantic comedy centered around a group of misfit camp counselors has since become a cult hit.
All episodes of Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp will roll out on July 31.
Needless to say, Twitter users have already lost their collective mind:
Netflix has made a prequel to Wet Hot American Summer. This is outstanding news.
