Former Star Trek star Wil Wheaton has launched a new TableTop series on the nerd culture-focused online network, Geek & Sundry.

Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana is based on the original fantasy role-playing game (RPG) of the same title, and will follow the cast (which features YouTuber Hank Green and Avengers Assemble actress Laura Bailey) playing their way through the game.

The series will be told through live action video of the actors engaged in the tabletop RPG along with animated scenes portraying the story that plays out.

It’s part of a larger web series, TableTop, co-created by Wheaton and actress Felicia Day, in which Wheaton and actors play out board games and tabletop games while explaining them to the audience.

The first chapter of Titansgrave was released June 9 (along with an introductory “Chapter 0”). Ten chapters will be rolled out in total.

“It was incredibly difficult to cast this show,” said Wheaton in a video promoting the series. “We needed people who were very comforatble improvising, who had experience playing role-playing games, and who were available when we planned to shoot the show. It was surprisingly difficult.

“They are all wonderful storytellers, and they are going to be a tremendous party of adventurers,” he added. “I’m only going to try to kill them a little bit.”

Geek & Sundry shows can be viewed on its own site, its YouTube channel, and its Twitch channel.

I hope we get more Battle of the Boasts. That was such a great part of the first session. Also the combat is fluid and fast using the Green Ronin Dragon Age system.
