Travel Channel to premiere Big Crazy Family Adventure online

The series, which makes its television debut on June 21, will be available in full across multiple platforms beginning June 14.

Travel Channel believes its upcoming series, Big Crazy Family Adventure, is binge-worthy.

The series, which makes its television network debut on June 21, will be available in full across multiple platforms beginning June 14, in a first for Scripps Networks Interactive.

The first half of the two-hour season premiere is currently available for free on, TV Everywhere, and select digital download and VOD platforms. As of the 14th, all nine hour-long episodes will be available through the Watch Travel Channel app as well as myriad VOD platforms such as Comcast’s Xfinity On Demand, Charter, Cox, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS, among others.

The entire series will also be available for download on assorted platforms including iTunes, Google Play, VUDU and Microsoft’s Xbox Video.

Henry Ahn, EVP of content distribution and marketing for Scripps told StreamDaily in an email that the strategy behind the pre-linear launch was “all about making noise for a new show.”

“And VOD is a pretty big platform to shout from,” he added.

Big Crazy Family Adventure, first announced last spring, follows the Kirkby family (pictured) as they treks across 13,000 miles over 96 days, with no airplane flights, to experience four “wonders of the world.”

“Travel Channel recognized that with Big Crazy Family Adventure we had a compelling and beautiful series, with a continuous story arc that makes perfect sense for this type of promotion,” said Shannon O’Neill, president of Travel Channel, in a statement. “This travel series is packed with adventure and exotic locales that our viewers love. We believe that once they meet the Kirkby family and embark on their 13,000-mile journey, they won’t want to stop watching. And they won’t have to.”
