Get ready for the next, next generation of Degrassi.
Just two days following the cancellation of the long-running teen soap opera, Netflix announced in a Tweet that it will be re-booting the series in 2016…again.

The Degrassi franchise has been a fixture on Canadian and American TV screens since the first series, The Kids of Degrassi Street, aired in 1979. Since then, the series has been re-booted and re-packaged several times for each new teen generation, spawning new series such as Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi, the Next Generation (where rap superstar Drake got his start) and, currently (and simply), Degrassi (current cast pictured). The series was airing on Teen Nick prior to cancellation. The last episode of Degrassi will air on July 31. The new version will go under the title The Next Class. According to a press release by DHX Media, which owns Family Channel (which will air the reboot in Canada), most (current) cast members will reprise their roles.
