Fans of The Mindy Project can now rest easy. After a week of speculation, Hulu confirmed Friday on its blog that it has ordered 26 new episodes of the series for a fourth season run.
Avid watchers of writer and actor Mindy Kaling’s single-camera comedy expressed disappointment following Fox’s cancellation of the series earlier this month. However, a cryptic social media post by Kaling sparked hope the series would soon find a second home. Rumors swiftly followed that Kaling was in talks with the SVOD.
Hulu has yet to announce a release date for the season or when filming will begin. Kaling took to Twitter, noting the cast will be back “real soon.”
“I am thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show,” said Kaling in a statement.
Last year, the streaming service announced it had struck a deal with NBCUniversal to acquire episodes from the show’s first three seasons.
