Atlanta-based, India-language online portal and internet TV service YuppTV has launched the Sri Lankan channels Sirasa TV and Shakthi TV worldwide.
This is the broadcaster’s first foray into Sri Lankan content with the two channels, owned by Capital Maharaja Group, which owns eight channels overall.
Sirasa TV is broadcast in the Sinhala language, focusing on entertainment, news and current affairs. Shakthi TV will broadcast in the Tamil language, and be available in May.
“We welcome viewers from Sri Lanka into the YuppTV family,” said YuppTV CEO Uday Reddy in a statement. “The Capital Maharaja Organization owns Sri Lanka’s largest media network and is a respected Sri Lankan brand. This launch will give viewers across the world access to the channels’ premium content.”
Founded in 2006, YuppTV delivers more than 200 live OTT TV channels rich in South Asian content, including 10 days of catch-up TV and unlimited movies, as it broadcasts in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Bangla, Urdu and English.
YuppTV also manufactures game consoles, connected TVs, media streaming players, smart Blu-ray players, PCs, smart phones and tablets.
