ABC News announced on Thursday that it is launching its app on Xbox One, making it the first U.S. news application on the gaming console.

The ABC News app will offer access to multiple simultaneous streams of live video, as well as on-demand content, entertainment news, original programming and highlights from ABC News programs.

The app’s “Snap” feature allows viewers to split the screen to view ABC News live streams and clips on one side, while simultaneously playing a game, watching live television, or video chatting on Skype on the other side.

It will also feature behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from ABC-Disney partners such as Marvel and Fusion and various ABC owned-and-operated TV stations, including WABC in New York and KABC in Los Angeles.

This weekend, the app will highlight content related to the network’s telecast of The 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, including interviews with nominees and segments on Oscar fashion, trends and history.

ABC’s live Oscar coverage will also be streaming live on the Watch ABC app and on abc.com. Its red carpet and backstage cameras will be available to all, but only viewers who subscribe to a participating TV provider in select markets (Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco) will be able to sign in and watch the stream of the Oscar telecast itself.
