Comcast Cable announced on Monday that it is teaming with Gaiam TV to launch Gaiam TV Fit & Yoga, a health and fitness SVOD service for its Xfinity TV customers.
Gaiam TV Fit & Yoga is accessible via Xfinity TV Go mobile platforms for $6.99 per month. There will also be a collection of free content available on demand.
The platform currently offers more than 100 videos featuring such well-known health and wellness personalities as Rodney Yee (pictured), Jillian Michaels, Leslie Sansone, Shiva Rea and Deepak Chopra. Program choices include cardio, pilates, yoga, circuit training and dance. It also offers videos tailored for people with health conditions.
The programming – which is a combination of new originals, licensed content and material from the Gaiam catalog – will expand throughout the year.
Gaiam’s content is a good complement to Comcast Cable’s existing cross-platform sport and fitness on-demand programming, according to the company’s VP of programming Andy Hunter.
“Consumers today are seeking specialized workouts and greater convenience to work out on their own terms,” said Hunter in a statement. “Our customers are constantly on the go, and need access to their fitness programming wherever they are.”
