Journalist Laura Ling has joined Discovery Digital Networks as its director of development.

Ling — the sister of journalist and TV personality Lisa Ling, who currently fronts CNN’s This is Life with Lisa Ling — most recently served as host and reporter for E! Investigates and the E! Network show Society X with Laura Ling. Prior to joining E!, Ling was VP of Current TV’s journalism department and created the investigative docu-series Vanguard.

In her new role, Ling will be part of the senior team that manages original program development for Discovery’s portfolio of online nets, which includes the channels Revision3, TestTube, Animalist, SourceFed and The DeFranco Network.

“Laura is a phenomenal talent who brings an unparalleled level of curiosity and commitment to storytelling to her work, and now Discovery Digital Networks,” said Tom Lofthouse, senior VP of programming for Discovery Digital Networks, in a statement.

Ling added: “Throughout my career, I have sought out the stories that haven’t been told and the people the world hasn’t met, and I am excited to join the Discovery Digital Networks team to help bring more of these stories to light online.”
