U.S. cable network Travel Channel is taking to the web to discover its next Travel Channel Star.
Potential contestants are invited to submit a 2-minute video online to TravelChannelStar.com or appear at a casting call and audition for the 3-round competition series, premiering next year on Travelchannel.com. The eventual winner will be chosen between two finalists during a 1-hour live special on the Travel Channel and be rewarded with their own 5-part series on the network’s digital platforms.
Competition judges include Travel Channel experts Jodi Bettencourt (pictured), the network’s VP of editorial content; Anna Garwood, director of programming and talent relations, and Travel 911 host Rob Pralgo. Travel Channel host Bert Kreischer will host the one-hour special and recap competition highlights, and there will be an interactive elements, as fans will be able to vote for their favorite videos online.
“The video submissions should tell a story and highlight a location that matches contestants’ travel expertise,” said Ross Babbit, Travel Channel’s programming and development senior VP, in a statement.
“What we really want to see come through is personality, point-of-view and a distinct passion and excitement for travel.”
