Amazon has greenlit two of its original pilots to launch next year as full series.
They are: dramatic thriller Hand of God, directed by Marc Forster (World War Z) and written by Ben Watkins (Burn Notice); and the comedy Red Oaks, executive produced by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh (Behind the Candelabra, Traffic). Both have been ordered for 10 episodes, including the pilots.
The shows were part of a handful of pilots that started streaming in the U.S. and U.K. on Aug. 28. Amazon cites positive customer reviews about both shows, which contributed to the decision to pick them up for full seasons.
Hand of God is an hour-long series about a judge who goes on a vigilante quest relying on visions he believes are sent to him through his ailing son. It stars Ron Perlman and is Forster’s television debut.
Red Oaks (pictured) is a half-hour comedy set in the ’80s starring Craig Roberts (22 Jump Street), Jennifer Grey and Paul Reiser. It’s directed by Sundance award-winner David Gordon Green (Eastbound and Down).
