Kevin Spacey to deliver keynote at 2014 IAB MIXX Conference

The House of Cards star will speak on the way digital platforms are transforming the way artists create, with Yahoo "global anchor" Katie Couric also appearing.

Kevin Spacey will deliver the closing day keynote address at the 2014 IAB MIXX Conference in New York on Sept. 30, it was announced on Wednesday.

In his talk, Spacey will explore how digital platforms are transforming the way that artists and content creators thrive in today’s entertainment landscape, in keeping with the theme of this year’s conference, “Digital’s Renaissance Moment: Art, Beauty and Human Emotion in Marketing.”

CouricSpacey is in a unique position to speak on the issue. Not only is he the star and producer of the most expensive online original, Netflix’s House of Cards, he also champions grassroots efforts via his company Trigger Street Productions, which sponsors programs such as the Jameson First Shot Contest, which held a screening of the winner’s digital shorts at YouTube Space LA last month.

Katie Couric (pictured, right) the former Today host and CBS Evening News anchor, who currently serves as global anchor for Yahoo News, will speak at kick-off of the 2-day event on Sept. 29.

Other industry leaders scheduled to appear include:

  • Tim Armstrong, chairman and CEO, AOL
  • Jeff Benjamin, outgoing chief creative officer, JWT North America
  • Dawn Ostroff, president, Condé Nast Entertainment
  • Bob Pittman, chairman and CEO, Clear Channel

The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square on Sept. 29 and 30.
