June 4, 2014

Multichannel sports network The Whistle  announced on Wednesday that it has acquired The Lacrosse Network (TLN).

TLN has 210,000 network subscribers and 2.3 million unique monthly video views. The purchase gives The Whistle access to TLN’s live lacrosse game broadcasts, as well as documentaries, sports stories, highlight reels and its archive of original programming.

Under the terms of the acquisition, TLN employees, including co-founders Samir Chaudry and Julien Berndt and creative director Colin Rosenblum, will become part of The Whistle team. TLN’s studio in Los Angeles will be added to The Whistle’s portfolio of production facilities, which includes studios in New York and Dallas. Chaudry will remain in his role as president of TLN.

The assimilated TLN team will work with Whistle to develop and promote YouTube channel content, as well as behind-the-scenes and cross-channel digital platform programming for everything from their website to mobile apps.

The Whistle, which launched on at the end of 2013, boasts 4.3 million subscribers on YouTube, 101 channel partners and almost 12,000 videos.
