eOne invests in interactive agency Secret Location

The equity investment, which will provide capital to open an L.A. office for the digital shop, comes as interactive entertainment continues to transform the online space.

Entertainment One has taken an equity stake in digital media agency Secret Location.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement will see Toronto-based Secret Location continue to operate on its own and provide content for eOne, brands, advertising agencies, broadcasters and other producers.

The equity investment also comes as interactive entertainment continues to transform the digital space, as producers and broadcasters eye new ways to engage viewers on existing and emerging platforms.

James Milward, president, executive producer and founder, and partners Pietro Gagliano, creative director and SVP, and Ryan Andal, technical director and SVP, will remain as leaders of Secret Location.

That management team also includes Mark Rozeluk, who recently boarded Secret Location as co-creative director.

eOne will provide capital for expansion at Secret Location, to include a Los Angeles office and penetration into other foreign markets on the strength of eOne’s expanding international footprint.

The equity deal continues past collaboration between the two partners, with Secret Location providing content for eOne Television series like Storming Juno, Certified Funny, The Great Martian War (pictured), Rookie Blue and Perfect Storms.
