The CW network has set the series premiere date for Backpackers, a show that was originally created as a digital series for CW’s digital studio, CW Seed, before shifting to a broadcast window.

The 10-episode, half-hour show, produced by Shaftesbury U.S. and Smokebomb Entertainment, will be added to the Monday night lineup, debuting July 14 at 8:30 p.m. Additional shooting for the final six episodes began this month, soon after it was announced the travel/comedy series was picked up for TV.

The youth-skewing CW network, which is now looking to air more comedy after making a name with fantasy dramas like The Vampire Diaries and Arrow, plans to use CW Seed as an incubator for new talent and new ideas. Other original web shows on the platforms include IAWTV-winning Husbands, and The P.E.T. Squad Files.
