Social media channels promoting a new show called SHFTY (Super Happy Fun Time, Yay!) have popped up this week, with the Endemol Beyond logo featured prominently on the series poster. Launching next month on YouTube, the comedy series will star influencers who have gained fame on the user-generated content platform Vine.
“This is #BeyondCOMEDY,” tweeted Will Keenan, president of Endemol Beyond USA, on Wednesday. Judging by other social media posts, it appears the series is expected to be officially announced this week at Playlist Live, a three-day conference held in Orlando, Fld., for fans and creators of online video entertainment. An Endemol Beyond spokesperson did not confirm the announcement by press time.
SHFTY will feature sketches, pranks, parodies and celebrity interviews, according to teaser descriptions on Instagram, YouTube and Twitter. A poster on the SHFTY YouTube channel (screengrab) shows Vine video creators Brittany Furlan, Kc James, Brandon Calvillo and Greg Davis Jr. (Klarity) will star in the show. The Viners have a combined following of 12.5 million people on the looping-video platform alone.
The show would be one of the first comedy series debuting from Endemol Beyond since it was launched last year as the digital division of the international media production company. So far, Endemol has partnered with more mainstream celebs like Pitbull, who will co-produce original content for both TV and digital platforms, and Courtney Love, who launched her first YouTube channel and web series in partnership with Endemol Beyond USA.
