Thirty-four years after turning the employee-employer relationship on its head in the movie Nine to Five with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are re-teaming to take an alternative look at senior citizenry in the Netflix original comedy series Grace and Frankie, it was announced Wednesday. The 13- half-hour episode first season will be available to subscribers of the streaming service worldwide in 2015.
Written and created by Marta Kauffman (Friends) and Howard J. Morris (Sullivan & Sons), the single-camera comedy tells the story of Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin), two longtime nemeses whose plans for their golden years are turned upside-down when their husbands announce that they are in love with each other and plan to marry, inexorably intertwining their lives.
Kaufman, Morris, Fonda and Tomlin will executive produce with Paula Weinstein and Skydance’s Productions’ David Ellison (son of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison), Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross.
