Netflix has expanded its licensing agreement with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), adding more than 20 Canadian documentaries to the VoD platform and renewing the NFB titles already available through the service in Canada.

New NFB titles available through Netflix include Helicopter Canada, Life with Murder and The Boxing Girls of Kabul (pictured). The deal also includes films in English, French, Thai and Farsi.

“This deal represents the rich variety of perspectives in Canadian filmmaking and we know our members will enjoy watching them whenever and wherever they want,” said Netflix’s VP of content Sean Carey in a statement.

“This latest agreement with Netflix underscores the appeal of great documentary storytelling to audiences everywhere,” added James Roberts, NFB assistant director general of accessibility and digital enterprises.

Some of the new titles are available for streaming effective immediately, while some launch in early 2014.
